Special Message Blast! - March 2009
Hello again! I don't want to crowd your inbox, but I've got some great things to share with you! I've got a free music class in my building I wanted to tell you about and we are hosting a toy show next week that I think you guys are going to like. I also have booked an educational expert that will be running a month-long, weekly series of classes for our kids. I am very excited to be booking quality guests into Tot Spot again... and don't worry, I'm getting those craft classes back on the calendar coming very soon!
Free Sunshine Music Together Class
Our friends (and neighbors) at Sunshine Music Together are offering a free sample class to Tot Spot Customers. These classes are warm, interactive for parents and kids and, best of all, tire out those little toddlers! As an added bonus, if you go to the class, you will get a card good for 50% off your next Admission to Tot Spot Cafe!
This is a great way to check out this type of class... we went to the last one and it was super-fun and the kids really got into it. Siblings are welcome to join.

Sunshine Music Together offers parent-child classes for infants, toddlers and preschoolers in which families share songs, instrument play, rhythm chants, and movement activities in a relaxed, playful, nonperformance-oriented setting. Music is learned through developmentally appropriate activities that support and respect the unique learning styles of very young children.
Music Together classes nourish a family's efforts to create a rich and joyful musical environment at home, regardless of their own musical abilities. The program encourages children's innate abilities to sing in tune, create rhythm and participate in music-making with joy and confidence. The 45-minute classes begin April 13th and meet four times a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Class size is limited to six to 12 students
Toy Show Thursday and Friday March 19th and 20th!
I have invited Discovery Toys to come to the Cafe and show off the unique toys they have. We have a few of these at home and they are very good quality and make great gifts for those zillion birthday parties we seem to go to nowadays! There will be plenty of samples available to test out with your little ones and you can order the same day.
Here are some details about Discovery Toys..
What Makes A Good Toy?
The greatest benefits of a toy are the joy and self-esteem that children experience when
they play with it. One carefully selected toy can do so much for a child; the right toy can
literally help them discover a love of learning! A well-chosen toy has certain aspects that
make it valuable to a child's growth:
- The toy can be used in several different ways.
- Children can power the toy with their own ideas and imagination.
- The toy can grow with the child through more than one developmental stage.
- The toy has lots of developmental play value.
- The toy encourages open-ended play. (There is no one "right" answer or way to use the toy.it allows lots of room for a child's
own creative thinking to come into play.)
- The toy engages children's interest beyond a few minutes - they will continue playing with it.
- The toy is fun, safe, durable, and attractive.
Humans are blessed with natural curiosity and the desire to explore the world around them. Nurturing, loving environments, communication, having lots of room to run, and the availability of good toys are essential for that natural process of discovery to thrive-and this results in healthy, happy children!
Discovery Toys, Inc. is the leading direct seller of educational toys, books, and games for children, personalizing the toy purchase experience through a network of over 26,000 Educational Consultants in the U.S. and Canada. We create toys that encourage happier, more well-rounded children and that allow parents to make educational and entertaining choices for their children.
The Discovery Toys mission is twofold:
- To offer children and families the most outstanding developmental toys, books, music and games available.
- To offer adults a flexible, meaningful and financially rewarding career opportunity.
Remember, when you play with your children, it's the best investment you'll ever make!
